THE PHILOSOPHY

WHY beunperfect

Imperfection as a sign of authenticity and uniqueness. We like to reinvent common objects with new features, transforming them into contemporary icons.

Accessory as a means of communication, a universal message able to express our identity.

WHAT IS beunperfect

beunperfect is a design studio and an artisanal atelier, founded in Paris in 2010 by the Italian designer Margherita Matticari.

Inspired by the Bauhaus school, the beunperfect project aims at combining innovative design with artisanal know-how to create functional, elegant and timeless objects “made to be used”.

In times of mass production and ephemeral anonyme products, beunperfect opts for a sustainable model, pouring passion, design and savoir-faire into its unconventional creations: limited editions, customized and original products of high-end quality, respectful of suppliers and partners.

The beunperfect project promotes the artistic enhancement in all its expressions.

A reconciliation between craft and creation rich in technical, artistic, aesthetic and ethical values.

THE DESIGNER

Follower of the Bauhaus school, at the crossroad of design, art and craftsmanship.

Margherita Matticari is an Italian industrial designer, combining creative thinking and artisanal know-how with a free-spirited nonconformist personality. The result is a unique way of conceiving multifunctional products with a strong identity, innovative design and aesthetic touch.

Graduated in Industrial Design at the Institute of European Design-IED in Rome and in Interior Design at the ESAG Penninghen in Paris, she inherited her grandmothers’ tradition of tailoring and embroiderers, and specialized in Couture in Paris. She made a series of significant professional experiences collaborating with design studios in Rome, Florence and Berlin.

In 2010, she settled in Paris and founded her own project: beunperfect, a design studio and atelier. Since then, she created permanent collections of bags and accessories, realized bespoken products and developed collaborations at international level with several brands such as S. T. Dupont, Lexon, Champagne Mumm and Perrier-Jouët, Cognac Martell, Jean Paul Hévin Chocolatier, Beams Japan, Schneiders Bag Company Vienna.

Awarded international design prizes, she participated in prestigious exhibitions, including “Maison & Objet” in Paris and the “Design Week” in Milan.

Follower of the Bauhaus school, at the crossroad of design, art and craftsmanship, she is keeping on designing and creating functional products, while experimenting sustainable materials and taking up the challenge of permanent innovation.
